Privacy Notice

What this website knows about you, and what we do with it.

Last updated: 18 October 2026

This notice explains what personal information Duke's Leith collects through this website, what we do with it, who else is involved, and the rights you have over it.

1. Who We Are

This website is operated by The Chicken Dudes Ltd (company number SC781067), trading as Duke's Leith, of 31 Duke Street, Leith, Edinburgh EH6 8HH. We are responsible for the personal information collected through this website (the “data controller”).

2. What We Collect and Why

When you book a table

Our Book Now page shows ResDiary’s reservation system. The details you enter there, such as your name, contact details and booking, go to ResDiary, who handle them for us so we can manage your booking. See ResDiary’s privacy policy.

When you contact us

If you email, phone or message us, we use your details and what you tell us only to reply and to deal with your enquiry or booking. We keep messages for as long as we need them for that, then delete them. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering people who contact us.

When you visit the site

Like any website, our server records each request it receives, including your IP address, your browser and the page you asked for. These logs exist to keep the site running and secure. They are kept briefly and then deleted, are not used to work out who you are, and are not shared. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website.

The map on our Contact page

The map is provided by OpenStreetMap. When the Contact page opens, your browser loads the map from OpenStreetMap’s servers, which see your IP address in order to send it.

Live sport listings

Our fixtures come from Fanzo. Our server fetches them; your browser does not contact Fanzo and nothing about you is shared with them.

3. Who Else Is Involved

  • Ginger Creative, Edinburgh, who build and host this website for us. The typefaces on this site are also served from Ginger Creative’s servers in the UK.
  • IONOS, whose servers in London run the website.
  • Google, which provides our email (Gmail).
  • ResDiary for table bookings, and OpenStreetMap for the map, as above.

We never sell your information or pass it to anyone for marketing.

The website is hosted in the United Kingdom. Some of these providers, Google in particular, may handle information outside the UK; where they do, they rely on the safeguards UK law requires, such as adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.

Links to Instagram, Facebook, Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Google Maps are ordinary links. Nothing from those sites loads until you click, after which their own privacy policies apply.

4. Cookies

We use no analytics, advertising or tracking tools. Our Cookie Policy lists the small preferences this site stores in your browser.

5. Your Rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, and to receive it in a portable form. To use any of these rights, contact us using the details below. We will reply within one month.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

6. Changes to This Notice

If we change how we handle your information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
